Traditional Juicer, Cold Pressed Juicer or Blender?
Everybody loves juices! Juices are just famous because they are so delicious but because they offer countless health benefits which are hard to ignore. However, if you buy juices and smoothies from the store thinking you’ll be gaining health benefits you are mistaken. The only thing you will be gaining through packaged drinks is weight. They are loaded with sugar, preservatives and artificial flavors which are far from healthy. Instead you can prepare healthy drinks at home provided you have the right equipment for them. Here we are comparing 3 different types of tools used for making healthy drinks so that you can choose one for yourself.
By traditional juicers we mean centrifugal juicers which are the most common types of juicers available in the market. A centrifugal juicer use fast spinning blades to break down the fruits and vegetables passing them through a mesh which separates the juice from the pulp. When the blades spin, they produce heat and this heat destroys many nutrients and enzymes in the drink. Anyhow, these juices are a good source of nutrients as long as you consume them immediately after preparation. With time the juice will start to rot and will lose its nutrients and enzymes. It is therefore the healthiest if you consume it right away.
Smoothies, made using a blender, are also a very convenient source of nutrients. They are also a good source of fibers along with nutrients since the whole fruit or vegetable is utilized in making the drink. Fibers also have numerous health benefits including a healthy digestive system. If you want to add more fibers to your diet you should definitely consider adding more smoothies to your diet. However, blenders have the same drawback as traditional juicer which is the exposure of heat and oxygen to the drink which destroys some of the nutrients and enzymes in the process.
In contrast to a traditional juicer, a cold press juicer uses a hydraulic press to squeeze the fruits and vegetables for extracting the juice. This process does not produce any heat or expose the juice to air thereby keeping all the nutrients and living enzymes retained in the juice drink. This is why a cold pressed juice is also called live juice and is by far the healthiest drink possible. A cold press juice will stay fresh for up to 3 days and the damage to the nutrients during this time is minimal. Unlike with a traditional juice, you are under no obligation to drink the juice immediately.
Now that you understand the difference between all the three different types of appliances you will be able to pick the best one for yourself quite easily. Whichever appliance you pick, you should know that they all produce very healthy drinks are help you live healthier.
