The History of The Garrison Group
The Garrison Group began in 1991 with roots deep in
some of the oldest Real Estate
companies in Greenville and continue to be
innovators in the marketing, sale and
development of Real Estate.
1973-1989
President, Henry Garrison joined The Furman Company's Commercial Division in 1973 after graduating from Presbyterian College. During his years at the Furman Company he becomes a certified property manager and certified commercial investor member. He was appointed CEO in 1983 and remained there until opening his own company in 1990. The Garrison Group specializes in both Commercial and Residential Real Estate Marketing and Development.
1990
Garrison forms The Garrison Company, primarily to broker commercial income producing properties. Because interest rates were high and there was very little activity in this area, Garrison listed a close friend’s home. This home listing turned into 15+ listings within a short period and the Residential side of the business emerged.
1992 Affiliation with ERA Realty, a national franchisee as ERA Garrison and Associates.
1993-1998 As an ERA affiliate, the group was always an area leader in sales and was honored several years as a Top 200 broker (out of 3600 companies).
For 4 years running, the company was in the top 5 of all ERA companies worldwide raising money for MDA (Jerry’s kids)
1999 The company becomes independent once more after ERA was sold to a large national conglomerate.
The company was renamed, The Garrison Group.
2000-Present
Computers, the Internet, a global economy and many other factors of the early 2000’s influenced the direction of the company’s next phase.
It became time to acknowledge the highly specialized segments of tour business. All areas of the business, have become highly complex, seemingly over regulated and change with the speed of light - thus, our emphasis on specialties.
While conventional residential and commercial brokerage still comprises a large part of our client base, our specialty areas have grown to a point of real satisfaction to us and to our specialty clients.
Focus has become the dominant force.
We handle site selection and disposition for a large institutional user.
